Gadar 2 Movie Review: Gadar 2 hit the silver screen on August 11, 2023, 22 years after the release of its iconic original part Gadar. The fans have felt a surge of nostalgia after watching Sunny Deol onscreen as Tara Singh. The box office collection of Gadar 2 on its opening day has been quite impressive. The film is doing exceptionally well in states like Delhi, Rajasthan, UP and Bihar. Even though the Rajnikanth movie “Jailer” was released yesterday, the Gadar 2 box office is getting an amazing response from the South Indian States too.
The film is a sequel to the classic Gadar movie and the plot of the movie is set in 1971. Besides Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, Mir Sarwar, Simrat Kaur, Doli Bindra, and Nilofar Gisawat are an important part of this film. The movie has been directed by Anil Sharma and Mithoon is the music director of this film.
Even though the box office collection has been very impressive for the Gadar 2 movie, the movie is receiving mixed reactions from viewers and critics. GADAR 2 MOVIE PLOT
Gadar 2 Movie Review: The movie is set in the year 1971. The first movie Gadar showed the time of the partition in 1947. So the movie sequel Gadar 2 takes place 24 years later. Tara Singh( Sunny Deol) is happily married to his wife Sakeena( Amisha Patel) whom he rescued in the first film of Gadar. Tara Singh still keeps meeting the army Colonel from time to time casually and eventually gets a Job as a Civil Transport.
The tension between two countries ( India and Pakistan) is palpable and war is emerging for India’s involvement in East Pakistan ( Bangladesh). Pakistan Army General, Hamad Iqbal is a ruthless vicious man who doesn’t even think twice before beheading people for showing loyalty to their religion and Holy Book Bhagavad Gita. Tara Singh gets the job of supplying war weapons to the Indian Soldiers, fighting in the war.
But for an accident, Tara’s family thinks that Tara has been landed in Pakistan and now his son Jeetay went to Pakistan to rescue his father. But it’s revealed that Tara Singh didn’t leave the country and now he would again go to Pakistan to save his son like he did 24 years ago for his now wife.
Pakistan Army General tortures Jeetay as his anger has hindered his mind for years and he now ends up venting on Tara’s son. The rest of the plot is based on How Tara again took his son back into his country. The movie makers also managed to show the love angle of Jeetay with a Pakistani girl Muskaan,( Simrat Kaur) and it’s needless to say the track was absolutely unnecessary.

Gadar 2 Movie Review: You are bound to miss Amrish Puri’s Baritone voice, at the start of the movie. Sunny Deol whenever appears on screen will make you realise he is ‘The Tara Singh’ even after two decades. His energy, dialogue delivery, and powerful acting is on point. You can go to the theatre just to watch him onscreen and your money will be worth it. However, we wanted to see more of him on the silver screen.
Watching Amisha Patel after all these years felt great. With that charming smile, and soft look she was still the same Sakeena. But her screen presence was almost little to none and whenever she appeared crying was a must. And on top of that to make it up for her, movie makers have made her wear all of that heavy jewellery and dresses.
The son of Tara Singh, Jeetay(Utkarsh Sharma) was on screen for a long time. While his performance as a new actor was decent, sometimes probably from the pressure of matching the iconic Gadar movie, he was getting melodramatic. His dialogue delivery and acting could have been better as the main lead.
Also his love angle with the Pakistani Girl, Muskaan seemed extremely forced and unnecessary. It’s high time that Bollywood gets over the idea of forcefully injecting romance whenever they get a chance. Manish Wadhwa as Pakistan Army General was convincing and impressive.
The songs directed by Mithoon and sung by Udit Narayan were a great gain from this movie.

GOOD SIDE OF GADAR 2 MOVIE
Gadar 2 Movie Review: Sunny Deol: The biggest gain from this movie is undoubtedly Sunny Deol. Whenever he appears on screen he owns his presence and it’s quite clear why we can never think of anyone else as Tara Singh even after all these years. His energy, dialogue delivery, and acting everything is on point. We can’t help but wish we could have seen more of his presence on screen.
Gadar 2 Movie Review: Gadar Nostalgia: When the Gadar Movie was released in 2001, it took the box office by storm. Breaking all of the box office records and receiving an overwhelming response from fans, the movie entered into the classic cult movie category. The movie starts by showing the scenes from the old movie. So if you have someone who always wanted to watch Gadar in the theatre or you already did it back then, the nostalgia wave will surely hit you.

BAD SIDE OF THE GADAR 2 MOVIE
Gadar 2 Movie Review: Lack of Creativity: Gadar 2 makers put the minimum to no effort to create a storyline that can match the classic vibe of Gadar. The movie looks like just another blunt sequel of a random movie. Director has tried too hard to establish the movie as a Gadar Sequel. With this storyline, the movie could have been easily made within a year of Gadar’s release. After 22 years of Gadar, this movie definitely could have been made with a better storyline, something that matches the present-time vibe.
Gadar 2 Movie Review: Lack of strong premise: Irrespective of being built on a Patriotic Background, the movie surely lacks a strong premise. Melodramatic cheesy dialogue delivery, presenting Pakistan as the ultimate villain as always and a one-man army, can make you bored or disappointed if you had high hopes for this movie.
Gadar 2 Movie Review: Poor VFX: The VFX of this movie seems like it was indeed made in 2001. Except for forcing Patriotism in the viewer’s mind, if makers would have concentrated on making the overall quality of the movie better, that would have surely worked out.
