WaterAid India is partnering with the Global Citizen Festival India (GCFI) in support of the Global Goals. Global Citizen is a social action platform through which people can learn about issues, take action on what matters most and join a community committed to social change. This year, the Festival in India will focus on gender equality, education and water and sanitation.
The festival was officially launched on 12 September in Mumbai and featured the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharastra Devendra Phadnavis, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Poonam Mahajan and popular Hindi film actors Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amitabh Bacchhan, Aamir Khan and Mr Farhan Akhtar with messages of support from the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the lead singer of Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
Some glimpses from the festival’s launch:
WaterAid India and GCFI will work together to identify and implement action journeys that the people of India can take to push their governments to commit to achieve the Global Goals. This will be done through a campaign centred on the GCFI website, which will culminate in a mega concert on World Toilet Day (November 19) in Mumbai that will feature international and national acts.
