WaterAid India in partnership with Swachh Bharat Directorate conducted Community-led Total Sanitation (CLTS) training in six districts of Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Fatehpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, and Kanpur.
The five-day training which began on April 25 included Additional Development Officers, Gram secretary, and 60 Swachtha Karmi. As a follow up of this training the participants will have three months extensive plan for triggering. District Water and Sanitation Mission and WaterAid along with partner will closely monitor progress. At the end of third month, a follow up for three days will be done. It is also planned that at least 15 people who may lead the whole process and be capable of CLTS would be selected after close monitoring in next nine months and DWSM Lucknow will use them in the entire district as a resource group.
This training was organised under the leadership of District Magistrate Lucknow Raj Shekhar and Prashant, Chief Development Officer.
Lucknow has planned to make 150 GP ODF by end of 2017 March.
