The first is through the Aadhar Self-Service Update portal, and the second is through Permanent Enrolment Centre. 

How to Update Your Aadhar Card Details Through SSUP Portal

You can update the details of your Aadhar card through just a few steps. Here is what you need to do. 

Step 1:

Head to the SSUP’s official website. Use this URL https://ssup.uidai.gov/in/web/guest/update 

Step 2:

Now, input the relevant details. These include the 12-digit Aadhar number. If you don’t have it, input the 16-digit virtual ID, which you can generate through the UIAD’s official website.

Step 3:

After that, tap the ‘Send OTP’ button. 

Step 4:

You will soon get an SMS with your registered phone number. It will have a one-time password or OTP. 

Step 5:

Input the OTP in its field. 

Step 6:

You’ll be taken to a page where you will find two edit options. The first is the Address, and the second is Address via PIN code.

Step 7:

Select the option that suits you to progress further.

Edit the address by uploading the necessary documents. You can expect your request to get materialized in about three weeks. 

Step 9:

As per your address, you will be given an enrolment centre where your Aadhar card will arrive.

Points to Note for Updating or Correcting Aadhar Card

Here are some key pointers to consider when making changes to your Aadhar card details:

  • No one can request your Aadhar card update except you. The only exception is for the update of the Aadhar card for a child below five years.
  • The update process needs authentication. This is carried out through either biometric or OTP verification.
  • The authentication for a child below five years will be done by their parents or guardians.
  • In case your Aadhar is being shown as invalid or rejected, dial 1947. 
  • Here’s the limit for specific updates:
  1. Name updates can be done two times. 
  2. Gender updates can be done one time.
  3. The birth date can be updated one time.
  • If you perform the update within four days from the date of enrolment, you do not need to pay for it. 
  • But if this time period has exceeded, you will need to pay Rs.50 for the update.
