WaterAid India’s regional office in Lucknow organised a two days’ workshop on Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) in collaboration with the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in Uttar Pradesh. The workshop which was attended by 110 people included Managing Director, SBM, Mr VK Anand (IAS), SBM team, District Project Coordinators from 23 districts including WaterAid India supported districts, officials from Neer Nirmal Pariyojna, Gram Vikas Adhikari and Gram Pradhans.
The workshop was conducted in Varanasi and day one was utilised to understand the basics of SLRM. In the second half of day one, the workshop attendees visited two gram panchayats where a SLRM project has been started. The participants observed how some of the SLRM by products are being used in agriculture. On day two an action plan was prepared on SLRM to be implemented by the districts.
Uttar Pradesh is looking for 15 gram panchayats to be SLRM inclusive and a government order has already been circulated in this regard in November 2016. WaterAid India will be providing technical support to the SBM team on this.
